Château de Valmer, Gigaro, France
”L’Art de Vivre” in a Luxury Treehouse

Climb the stairs to the rustic luxury treehouse of the Château de Valmer, La Cabane Perchée, nestled among the rustling leaves of a 100-year old oak in the middle of the Château's vineyard and you feel like woody woodpecker gone lucky.

Leading up to the Château is an elegant and stately driveway lined with century old palm trees. The property is surrounded by the silvery-blue-green colours of Southern France, and sits amidst a 6 ha vineyard in a tranquil spot on the Mediterranean Sea. It is just 15 minutes outside of the hustle and bustle of St.Tropez. A romantic getaway and a treasure-find for honeymooners and lovers of the the good life alike.

The quality craftsman treehouse follows the shape of the tree and is elegantly decorated with wooden furniture and delicate fabrics like a fine country-house. The bed has a romantic veil for dreamy sleeps and the cabin is equipped with a 3-piece bathroom. The treehouse is sitting a little away from the main house that guarantees privacy.

Romantic Treehouse Retreat
Les Cabanes Perchees

Picture a lazy afternoon cocooning in the comfortable chairs on the sundeck shaded by the oak tree, cooled by a slight breeze waving through the leafs, sipping Veuve Clicquot rather than elderberry bubbly, overlooking the elegant Mediterranean Gardens of notable size and splendour and gazing out at the aquamarine glint of the sea in the distance, and bewitched by the soothing perfumed Provencal air. You get the picture?

What to Expect

What can I say - sigh! It's not a pleasure that comes cheap. But hey, one can always dream, n'est pas?

…sweet dreams
Cabin Interior

This is not a rugged Robinson Crusoe-type of tree hut; it's more a cabin for the Kelly-bag-carrier guest who seeks refuge from a "strenuous" sightseeing day at the Côte d'Azur.

The Chateau de Valmer itself offers 42 individually and charming decorated rooms and suites, though this is all about the cabane. What it means tough, is that you have all the amenities of a luxury land house at your fingertips. A splendid pool surrounded by stunning hundred-year-old palm trees in a park-like setting, a spa with indoor pool, fitness room, tennis court, a Restaurant with fabulous food - a second one at the beach - and a private beach to soak up the sun in that delicate "l'air de Provence".

The Mediterranean Sea is walking distance away and the hotel offers its guests an exclusive private spot on a beautiful sandy beach.

The cuisine is exquisite, though rather hard on the valet. But so are most of the Restaurants at the Côte, since they are spoiled with well-healed guests.

This is a great spot for people who want to be based near the water but away from the flashy St.-Tropez scene.

The French perfumes are still considered the best in the world with new fragrances coming out on a regular basis. A visit in the world city of perfume - Grasse - is a must. You can take home a custom made perfume that will always remind you of the beauty of the South of France.

The diminuitive, admission-free Fragonard museum displays some fine perfume-related artefacts. Among other Grasse perfumeries with free tours and museums are Molinard and Galimard.
