Mural Photos in Ashcroft BC
The village of Ashcroft in the "heart the of Gold Country" has lost its importance that it had as a supply junction during the 19th century Gold Rush, instead, the film industry moved in.
The buffalo mural at a local eatery is a "leftover" and reminder of the film An Unfinished Life that has been filmed here in 2005, starring Jennifer Lopez, Robert Redford, and Morgan Freeman.
Two large murals can be found in the small but beautiful Heritage Place Park. The one below shows the village of Ashcroft during the pioneer days.
The friendship between the cities of Ashcroft and Bifuka started in the early nineties. Since then, they visit each other on a regular basis. In 1997, students of the International College of Ashcroft were invited to Bifuka, Japan, to paint a mural in collaboration with the Ashcroft Artist Jo Petty.
The Sister City returned the favour in 2000, and Mr. Kazuhiko Nagaki came to Ashcroft to paint this beautiful mural that depicts Matsuyama, a marshland in Northern Japan. It's placed in a little Japanese Garden at the entrance of the Heritage Place Park in downtown Ashcroft.
