The Shuswap area is well known for its many arts and music festivals, but undoubtedly WOW is one of the best Salmon Arm attractions. WOW! stands for Wednesday On the Wharf. It is in its 17th year and more popular than ever.
Every Wednesday during the summer month, Salmon Arm BC hosts the evening concerts in the Marine Park at the Wharf. It's a lovely park in a stunning setting directly at the Shuswap Lake and close to the lively Salmon Arm downtown.
Before going to the concert, people love to browse the nearby Twilight Market that offers local goodies, crafts and arts.
Visitors gather around the gazebo where the musicians will play. They bring their own chairs or settle in on blankets and enjoy a picnic with family and friends. Young and old, locals and tourists mix for an evening of great entertainment.
The music style ranges from folk to reggae, blues to rock, country to classics, and the seasons last concert is always crowned by the Salmon Arm Community band.
The August 11th concert with Wil Campa y La Gran Union, a group of 14 musicians brought the house down. Their Cuban rhythm and Wil's ability to move a crowd and unite them in his call-and-response songs became a fun Latin dance party. For him and the group, it was a warm up for the upcoming Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, well known and attended by reputable musicians from all over the world.
Concerts begin at 6.45pm at the Marine Park, Salmon Arm.
